Yes, you read correctly, finally a use for these packaging peanuts other than tossing them in the recycling bucket or trash. At some point, you're going to be repotting an Orchid and you quickly discover, after removing the Orchid from its pot, that the roots have totally outgrown its current pot, and it won't fit comfortably back in its original pot. So you grab the next size-up pot and discover the new pot is a little too deep. So what do you do? You place as many of the white packaging peanuts on the bottom of the new larger pot to fill the space and then proceed to repot normally with your favorite potting media. Voila, Fini...you're done. Just make sure you only use the white, unbleached packaging peanuts....not the other pretty colors loaded with chemical dyes. So the next time you get a mail order that's filled with white packaging peanuts, pop them all in a zip lock bag and put them away...you never know when you'll need them. Category: Orchid Tips
